Thread: MWerks New Project 135i Will Start With Two Iconic American Road Trips

  1. 02-01-2008 06:16 PM #1

Last month MWerks announced we had ordered an Alpine White 135i coupe for our next project car series. With the American launch of the 1 Series just around the corner, we decided to get to know our new friend the old fashioned way—with a road trip. Make that two road trips, actually.

We will take delivery of our car on February 15th in Monterey, CA, whereupon we’ll head south on one America’s most romanticized roads, the Pacific Coast Highway, on our way to Los Angeles. We are putting together plans for an evening get-together somewhere in the Hollywood/Santa Monica area, details of which will be announced soon.

Early the next morning we’ll set out on the second stage of our return to Chicago, traveling on historic Route 66 from Santa Monica. On the 16th we’ll make the 500-mile drive from the coast to Flagstaff, Arizona, where we’ll host another gathering in the evening.

The next day’s drive will take us more than 850 miles from Flagstaff to Oklahoma City. On the 18th of February we’ll hit the home stretch, driving some 800 miles to get back to sweet home Chicago.

In total, our journey will cover more than 2500 miles in just four days. Along the way, we’ll be handing out MWerks window graphics and producing daily photo galleries and videos to share. Once we return to the office with our new toy, we plan to start exploring opportunities for even greater performance.

If anyone is interested in meeting up along the way, let me know. We are looking into a spot near Santa Monica to host a Friday Night GTG on the 15th, and we'll probably do a smaller gathering in Flagstaff on the 16th if anyone's interested.

Also, feel free to meet up with us on the road along the way if you wish. Might be fun to have some 1 Series fans in tow.

Have fun doing RT. 66. I did it a few years back in a caravan of classics and had an absolute blast

Will definitely meet up with you in LA - so jealous you're getting yours so much earlier than mine's arriving.

UPDATE- We will be hanging out at Santa Monica Beach on Friday night (Feb 15th) from 7 PM onward. We'll be in the north parking lot (immediately north of the pier). We'll have mwerks stickers to give away.

As for Saturday night (the 16th) we'll be in Flagstaff. Justin is pulling together a location and we should know details of that soon.

Nice to meet you tonight - definitely made me more excited for mine to get here - like I told you it's supposed to have finished production today.
