To me, the Laguna, AKA Watkins Glen, wheels they have on the 2014 US GTI are the best looking wheels available on any car. I just wish they were a 17" wheel for the improved performance, ride, and mileage. Lucky for me the BBS SR are available in 17" size and look almost identical to the Lagunas.

I am a big fan of the stock 18's. I have been modifying cars for about 15 yrs and this is one of the first car's OEM wheels I haven't wanted to change. Maybe I am just getting old but my eyes disagree with the majority of the wheels in this thread

I agree that these wheels *look* heavy, and they probably are on the heavy side (don't know weight off the top of my head), but I like their simple, uncluttered design - same goes for the huffs and Detroits of yesteryear. It's worth mentioning, though, that I HATE the black paint because it does look tacky, and it eventually fades, scratches, spiderwebbing happens, etc and it looks like garbage.

However, the Watkins Glen wheels do look fantastic - in fact, it's one of the few BBS-style wheels that I actually like (they're typically too busy for my taste).

I like the Laguna wheels too, i like a mesh design on the GTI and most euro cars. That black GTI above looks great but can't believe guys are doing 20's.

I have had 2 cars in the past couple years, a Scion FRS and now a Cadillac ATS and i work in the auto business so i buy and sell wheels a lot. I also want something wider with lower offset to get them flush with the fenders.

Neuspeed RSE52 Machined Silver on Carbon Steel GTI

      Hi Gang,

Maybe a sticky could be started by the mods for wheel pics/weights so all of this is in one place, but for now...

My 2015 carbon steel grey GTI Autobahn 6spd (+leather+nav) was delivered to me a couple of days ago and I had them put on a set of Neuspeed RSE52s as part of my PDI, with Michelin Pilot Super Sports (225 40 18) I had purchased from a Golf R driver.

Wheels: Neuspeed RSE52 Machined Silver, 18x8, ET45, 5x112, 57.1CB, 19.0lbs (listed) - 43lbs with new Pilot Super Sport mounted and balanced.

FYI, stock 18" Austins with crappy PZero Nero All Seasons mounted were 48.2lbs.

Wheels look great and drive great. Small fitment issue with one of the VW centre caps so the RS caps are back in for now.

      This looks awesome!

Was waiting to see Neuspeeds on the Mk7. Now I just need to see RSe05"s(17") in black on a reflex silver or white Mk7 PP to see what my car will look like.

If the VW caps are too small and won't snap in...you can wrap a piece of good electrical tape around the part that snaps into the wheel. One layer is all you need. I know...I've done it on mine.

      Thanks for the tip, jmnj!

Another bonus with these wheels is I can reach in through the spokes to clean the brakes and wheel barrels

Yeah, they are really easy to keep clean.

The best thing about them though is the weight. Makes a huge difference. My combo weighs 38lbs.

It's a great feeling every spring when I take the winters off.

Looks good I am thinking about those same wheels in bronze.

Also just an observation but it seems your car is nose high, might want to check if the dealer removed the strut pucks.

It's just the shadows on the fenders that make it look that way, I think. Already checked, and there are no pucks in mine - thanks for the tip though. Pics were quickies with an iPhone on my way home from the dealership.

My factory wheels are missing paint like most others here on the forum

Looks nice! And thanks for posting the OEM wheel/tire weights. I was wondering about that.

Looks great! I just picked up the same car in Toronto but with Jack Cloth. Like you, I came from Gen V. Big improvement! Are you going to lower it?

I'm definitely not going to lower it. Insurance laws in Ontario have changed a lot in the last few years and ANY type of lowering or power gains will void your insurance contract with most providers, leaving you open to zero liability coverage in the event of an accident. There is a bunch of info online about it but basically if you mod and still want insurance, you are looking at close to $7,000 per year with a clean driving record. Besides, my MKV with stock suspension wasn't too bad around the track, and more than adequate on the street.

Nothing like some clean 5 spokes on a German car. Looks great!

VWR 19's on order. Pics soon.

I love the 18's but the 19" wheel will fill everything up that much better, without sacrificing the ride quality. And as far as black paint on an already VERY EASY to cleam OEM wheel, nothing a bit of polish and elbow grease cant fix. Opticoat or other coatings can also keep things looking new, for a long time.

      - Awesome to those rocking 20's.. I dig it, but those rubber bands

I don't believe we have sensors in the mk7. I will know soon for sure when I get my wheels.

Dealer told me the same. Says it compares wheel rotations, as more new cars do. Have not yet verified, but not having to deal with sensors will be great.

I thought the factory rims looked good. but I got a great deal on these and the dealer took the factory rims in on trade. I paid very little for all four installed. And now I don't got to deal with the unpainted wheel debacle.

Just put down a deposit on a Reflex Silver, Autobahn, Lighting Package and DSG for September delivery.
I accually like the new factory wheels. The only way I would switch them out is if the dealer bought my factory wheels.
But those VMR V710's are so sexxy.
