      Fitment

Is there any chance that 20x9 et33 wheels will fit an MK7 GTI without problems? Have a set of Q7 wheels lying in the garage and was thinking about running them in the summer if possible.

according to willtheyfit.com....no chance unless you want to modify fenders or run an undersized tire. the wheels alone stick out 35mm further than stock

My 2015 GTI Autobahn with OZ Ultraleggera Matte Graphite Silver wheels 18x8 ET45, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires 235/40-18, and VWR Sport Springs.

As compared to the OEM wheel and tire 49mm offset, this setup is a 4mm reduction in wheel offset, plus a 10mm increase in tire width, resulting in an effective offset of 40mm. The 30mm drop from the VWR springs and the 4mm increase in sidewall height (90mm to 94mm) is probably near the max possible without rubbing.

The OZ wheels are also much lighter than OEM (19.1 vs 25 lbs). I'm very happy with the results, both look and feel.

ET 33 is just to far out of range for the front, with fender work maybe.

Thanks for the reply. If running them with an undersized tire is possible, is there a reason I shouldn´t do that?

Whenever you have a chance can you take pictures to show how flush they sit with the fenders? I'm looking at this exact setup wheels/tires wise and I'm worried about it poking past the fender in the front.

That's the same as the ECS (20mm) flush kit spacers for the rear. The same kit uses 15mm for the fronts though. I found this too much and reduced to 15/10 spacers.

Personal preference but 20mm out on the front would be too much.

Yeah I've run the numbers on willtheyfit.com but it's hard to tell what that would look like IRL. Thanks for the input though about the spacers, I hadn't thought of that. I might just have to go 8" et45 and run spacers in the rear.

Not the greatest pics but gives you an idea of the poke.

Et35 18x8 225/40 is pretty much the safest, widest setup out there.
Im on ET35 18x8.5 225/40 and its reallllllyyyyy close to the fender.

I think with a mild drop, it will bring the wheel back a bit further from the fender.

Awesome thank you! That poke in the front isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I don't plan on dropping it anytime soon and if I do it'll just be VWR springs so rubbing shouldn't be a problem.
