I know this was in jest, but...
I'm actually surprised as many survived as they did! Think of how many would've been taken out by a combo of bad roads, and unexperienced drivers. It's not like riding a horse, (or any other car really) and you always here stories of people trying to get them to stop by pulling on the wheel and yelling "whoa!"
I'm always shocked of the low value of Model T's... and I attribute that mostly to the fact that there are so many surviving.

Actually, the average age of registered vehicles in the US is around 11 years -- not the average lifespan. I would guess the average lifespan is around 16-18 years (with the average age being pulled up by a small number of very old cars). At this point, anything from the '90s or earlier is becoming relatively rare in everyday service. Our TCLers in the ~25-40 age range just need to realize that we are getting old I mean, I remember very clearly when stuff like the '96 Chrysler minivans came out. Cars from the late '90s still don't seem "old" to me, but they're going on 20 years now!

I used to see a lot of Dodge Magnums around. For a car that sold relatively well it disappeared from the roads pretty quickly. Especially when you take into account that you still see a lot of first gen 300s out there.

Fair 'nuf. The numbers are off, but the idea stands.

When I was 18 I wanted a 1994 Ford Probe GT (looking back now, I wonder WHY????) or a VW Corrado. Anyhow, $4.50/hour retail employed me couldn't afford either of the then $20K plus price tag so I never got either one. Of the two, I have seen a few Corrado's in the wild (i.e. not at a car show) However, I cannot remember the last time I saw a Ford Probe. Sorry, can't link pictures due to work computer being a jerk, but you guys know what they look like.

Was going to post this exact video. My question is, "are those wheels given out for free on street corners in Japan?"

I'm 35 and I totally agree with this.

Ten years ago, I had three or four mk2 VWs in my driveway; now I'm lucky if I see one or two a year, anywhere.
