The 2013 Tiguan was IIHS small-offset tested (CEN1309) with marginal performance. The 2016 Q3 was tested (CEN1519) with good performance.
Why the difference if they are both built on the PQ35 chassis? Did that chassis get structural changes after 2013 (like the Q5 did) to improve small-offset protection?
I am shopping for a car for my new-driver son.....is the $8K cheaper Tiguan as safe as the Q3 ????
