      12 years old don't have mid 30K

After seeing this, the Focus RS look so subtle.

You all need to get over yourselves a bit. None of you would/will have purchased the car. All you of you are aware the R models have always been riced out. Glad Honda is introducing the car to the US market finally.

Not quite this far... they're pushing it more and more every model. Glad they're bringing the CTR, perhaps Ross will buy it?

Maybe I am not the demographic (old guy in my 40s), but I do like the styling. Not sure if I would own one, but I do like it. There are too many boring cars on the road and this will definitely stand out. I am real surprised about the cost. $35k is a great price for this car.

Not sure, but it seems reasonable that it should be less than the 4WD entries like the Golf R and Focus RS. Car and Driver listed the 2015 Type-R around 3050 pounds which probably isn't far off from what the 2017 model will run.

Can't they just make a new DC2 ITR? That is Type-R to me, not this garbage...

I owned a DC2 GSR, which I loved, but sadly I wouldn't even cross-shop this new CTR with the Golf R, STI, RS, even if Honda thinks I should. Someone that can afford a $35K+ sport compact is going to go for the subtle style of models from VW, Subaru, Ford over this CTR 7 days out of the week.

Honda dropped the ball on this one. They finally agreed to bring us a Type R again, and they missed the mark big time.

If I drove this car to work, people would laugh at me.

$35k has been the rumor for a while now, but no one wanted to believe it. On the internet and IRL people were convinced it was going to be $40k+.

STI and RS aren't subtle at all. Golf R, yes.

My DC2R was yellow with red "R" badging on it. People laughed at it. I didn't care.

I think that's what I predicted a while back, so I'm happy about that. Seems about right

10th gen hatch weighs 2,815 to 3,003 lbs and this Type R has "a 7 kg (15 lb) reduction versus the base 2017 Civic Hatchback" so do the math to get your rough curb weight. from me there too!

I'm really curious to drive this thing when it comes out. I love the way it looks, and so will my two little kids. I'm most likely about to purchase a "boring" sport sedan for the next couple years of kiddo hauling, but once they've grown up enough that my wife can start working again, maybe it'll be time for one of these.

Looks great in this pic, but I'm biased since I'm a fan of the new Civic Hatchback

I do agree the rear is a little busy with that huge wing.

I'm not liking the red accents on the wheels and exterior. It may look better in black without the black wheels and red accents.

with very few exceptions in this thread, i think we may have consensus!

Looks good here. Also, the interior is wicked. The rear is gonna take some getting used to though. Yeesh. It doesn't help that I already find the normal hatchback's rear end revolting, particularly the fake bumper vents.

I saw that matte black prototype posted above at the Toronto Auto Show, and from the front, it looked downright devilish. But the side profile and rear killed it for me. Would have liked to see the Type-R treatment on the sedan or coupe.

I really want to like this thing. I'm expecting this thing to redefine what we think of FWD driving dynamics.

If I were in the market for a FWD pocket rocket, this would probably be at the top of my list now.

I like the new Civic hatchback, but I don't think I would call it "pocket-size." To me the new civic looks a little bulkier than the rest.

I love this new Type R- it may look ugly to some, but i think it's going to put up some very good performance numbers.
