How's the depreciation on modern Audis?

Does it fall off like a rock? Or is it relatively stable and predictable?

Would you want an current Audi in your garage for 7+ years? Or would you want to get rid of it as soon as the warranty is up?

Asking generally about the current model line-up. Question could apply on anything from the RS3 to the A4 to anything else they sell these days.

Way more reliable than they were years ago. I would definitely keep a b8 s4 for 7+ years

When have you kept a car for 7 + years? Seems like you are constantly switching.

You will probably want to switch before 2025. By then electrics will offer gas powered ranges and 10 min refills.

I doubt it. OP thinks Audis are boring.

I don't follow the used Audi market but I have heard/read that S/RS models hold their value better. That makes sense to me, and I don't think I'd be interested in anything other than an RS3 or S/RS5 Sportback anyway. Maybe an SQ3 or SQ5.

I think the car you do have right now will probably do better than almost any Audi, though...

As I said in the Continental thread, our local Audi dealer has a 2 year old optioned out A7 on the lot for $40k. Original sticker was over $80k.

I was looking at kijiji for a "fun" car, so searched S5 and 335i (relatively same MSRP) and the same years BMW's can be had for much less.

      $40K?????

50% depreciation in 2 years is pretty steep.

That's typical for any luxury car, A7 has pretty strong resale.

Based on in service date, it may be 3 years old. 18's are out already.

Didn't OP post gushing praise about a rental A4/5 with FWD & CVT?

Lease residuals are a pretty solid way to determine this on a wide scale.

50% depreciation in 24 months is pretty typical for luxury vehicles?

Is an A4, RS3 etc considered a 'luxury' vehicle? I took an UBER Black the other day which is supposed to be the luxury option and a 3 year old 3-series showed up. WTF?

      Uber Black FAQ:

      Vehicle Requirements

Passenger Limit: Must be able to comfortably carry at least 4 passengers
Car must be a luxury sedan (with model/year requirements varying by city)
Must be 2010* or newer, black, have black leather interior, and immaculate
Drivers tend to be well mannered, professional, and typically "dress to impress"

That's weird. My definition of luxury vehicle is Audi S8, BMW 780iL, Mercdedes E-Class or higher, Yukon Denali etc...

Came to say this, when I looking I was really between S4's and 335i's. My 335i is a fully loaded M-sport 2013 that had 19k miles at the time of purchase and had a $25k sticker. The only S4's in that price range had 35k+ miles and typically no sport package just the basic S4.

My father is at the tail end of his A6 lease and loves the car, he's going to jump into another a6 unless some maserati magic happens but I doubt they'll hit the numbers he wants. He'd buy the A6 out of lease if it made financial sense but it doesn't. The S cars also maintain value better for sure because there simply are not as many of them.

Depends whose definition you use. For Uber's purposes I think they consider pretty much almost any car built by a luxury brand a luxury car.

How is a Yukon Denali on that list? Price? 3 series has a way nicer interior.
