      Still waiting to see if we get custom colors like the canadians do... That would be sweet. (although not getting them would make me feel better about my 2017 purchase)

      Nice to see the pretoria wheels going away. My 2017 will be unique. I was thinking of maybe selling them, this will give em a nice big price boost. They really are the best looking OEM wheels I've seen in a while.

      So the SE is gonna be like 31k.
      CRV EX looks around 29k with 1.5L but CVT
      Rav4 XLE with the 2.5 and garbage audio unit is around $28k
      Rav4 SE is $31k.

      So for that I think it's a pretty easy choice of the SE with DSG.

      But maybe still a Ridgeline but you need to drop $41k to get a sunroof.

      And Subaru doesn't deserve success.

      Looks like VW is sticking with the regular hand brake for North America.

      It looks like VW doesn't think Americans on average are smart enough to use something more complicated than a manual handbrake. They see Americans still killing themselves with those Jeep gear selectors... VW is trying to keep their cars intellectually accessible for NA.

      Of course, the R is still made in Europe.

      I recall a post here a while ago. Someone said changing the rear brake pads on a Passat (not the NA specific) is a major PITA b/c of the electronic parking brake. He said something about hooking up the dealer computer to set the rear caliper so you can change the pads.

      On our order guide, the Prets are still specified standard, and the ones in the press pictures are an optional package.

      The R, Atlas and new Tiguan all have the button parking brake. I don't know why the keep the handbrake for the Golf and GTI

      I like it, but not as much as I liked the European reveal. Not sure why but it seems 'off'.

      Anyways, I look forward to picking up a CPO 2015 o 2016 GTI next year. That is if I get over my "I need a ATS" phase.

      Are you sure about that ? I was under impression that they still have to put 5mph bars behind the bumpers, which is what tends to give bumpers a funny look.

      The US changed from 5mph to 2.5 mph in 1980s. The reason cars in North America still had the large bumpers was that Canada still kept the 5mph standard until 2009.

      Nope, I'm totally with you there. I definitely prefer the "original" Mk7 (Mk7.0? Mk7.1?) on the outside, and I even prefer the US-spec tails to the Euro ones. The new interior looks the same, but I like the analog gauges as well as the CarPlay headunit I have with *gasp* real buttons.

      I believe there are three if not four variations of tail lights on European models of Golf.
