I have an appointment coming up. I will demand a STI if the check engine doesn't come on by then. This car is a lemon.

My 2017 has no fewer than 4 rattles after only 1400 miles and 6 months of ownership.

Is the OP feeling a little hurt by a certain Subaru thread? Also, Rule #1 OP. We need to see it

Please, that thread proved nothing other than some of the people here have low self esteem.

Sounds like you bought a lemon, sorry man

Maybe disconnecting the rear brakes would help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I find Subie rattles are very temperature dependent. Mine tends to rattle when it's cold outside, but is fine when it's warm. In any event, I didn't buy the car for a luxury experience. I bought it for how it drives

Saw the OP's name before the thread title and knew it was a praise thread, or a C&D article lol. Subaru doesn't deserve it's hype. Oh, still loving mine btw.

OP - I feel ya. My MK4 with the 1.8T nevar lose is a fantastic car and has been very reliable too. No CELs, no rattles, gets up and goes every day. I must have gotten lucky with the Mexicans who built it.

A mk7 PP costs more than a premium trim WRX.
I have neither now, but have owned both a GTI and 2 WRXs in the past so I keep up on each. If you look past the 0-60 times the PP GTI seems like car to beat in this segment as far as driving experience goes. It does have the same trap speed as the WRX, same 5-60mph, better braking, skidpad etc. Unfortunately up here to get a PP package you need to buy the loaded autobahn which 5-6 K more than a base WRX. VWoC needs to make that a standalone option up here as for that kind of money savings WRX is a better buy.

I think the two are close enough that the decision is well within personal preference range.

Interpolating out, I should have no fewer than 300 rattles then. My swaybar does squeak. I'm guessing ringlands.

But do you really only drive 1.5 month per rattle?
I keep up with traffic with only 90 hp. What's your superpower?

Spend some time at the rev limiter to test your check engine light. Works for me.
Do it on a dirt track too.

I put brighter reverse bulbs in there, so its not that red. Also installed a rear fog light that lights up white while reversing.

I did the Cobb Vap3 upgrade and the only issue I've had is that the car now waits for stop signs to turn green.

Irony is no less ironic if you're the only one that doesn't see it coming.
