Does 2017 R 19" wheels come with different tires?

Dealer has two, one has pirelli tires and the other continental. When asked, he said it depends on which US factory it was assembled

Has anybody else see different tires on them?

The story ends when he demanded $4,500 mark up over MSRP

Your dealership's employee is an idiot.

Tires are at the luck of the draw based on what they have in stock at the time in Wolfsburg (and that is the only factory making the R for NA). VW likely maintains redundant supply streams to ensure they don't run out of tires due to supplier's production schedules.

As isoprene said, the R is built in Germany and shipped over to the states. My dealer had a few R's in stock when I bought mine, and there was a mix between Continental and Pirelli tires on different cars.
Need VAGCOM coding in the Chicagoland area? I'm cheaper than any shop, PM me for details!

I wonder which is the better tire. Mine came with Perelli's so odds are it will be the Conti's. lol

Thanks guys. Good to know. Doesn't really matter to me other than sharing stealer's funny remark. Plan switching to 17" and remove all R badges upon delivery

Another dealer offered me a discount plus a ok trade in value. But their car has 100 miles on it. I know it doesn't make sense but I want my new toy shiny

One thing I didn't realize was how small that navigation screen is, thought it was much larger. Maybe I watched too much VW porn on youtube

      It's 6.5" in the USA.

The only one I know for sure is the European 2018 9.2-inch-no-nober, really wish we could have that one. There's also an all glass one with 2 nobs, not sure if that's the up and coming 8 inch for US.

I think the 2017 model also has 8 inch plastic screen version. I watched so many Youtube R videos since my last visit, I thought that was the one we had. I figured I wouldn't miss the new facelift ... Now seeing and touching the US spec-ed screen again, I'm not so sure anymore All LED, 8 inch glass screen, digital dash, plus I can drop all the electronic nannies I don't really want and get 18" wheel ...

Eh, I've always preferred Pirellis to contis, mine has P zeros which is a good tire, but they are no Michelin PSS

Yea that's pretty small, I thought the 17's would have the 8" by now.

I always hear people hype the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I've never used them so I don't see what's so great about them. When I check tire weights they seem like a heavy tire and next time I replace wheels or tires, I know I want to go for a light setup.

New Question: Does it come with spare tire? I swear I saw it in one of the Rs and I thought wow, such a tiny car but still carry a spare.

But now every one I look, it's just a lone subwoofer down there

A spare can fit, but is not included by default. Normally you get an air compressor and a can of sealant.

There are other threads that talk about how you can buy the Audi S3 spare, which will fit. This may involve using a dremel to cut out some of the foam surrounding the subwoofer, or you can buy a foam insert with room for the spare, plus outlines for the toolkit. This will set you back a few hundred $, more if you get it from the dealer.

WTH? Genuine VW spare wheel and tire is only a hundred and change? I think even aftermarket spare for BMW is like twice that!

Now I really need a Golf R! Just that damn screen!! Size matters!!!
