    Yeah...I'm the opposite....I'm a Diet Coke Junkie....and I'm not even really on a diet...that's the strange part...

and I can definately tell the difference between the 2 very easily...hell I can even distinguish between caffeine free diet coke and regular diet coke without hesitating for a moment

hmmmm vanilla coke is great, haven't had the pepsi version yet, but the logo makes it look like a cheesy ripoff.

Not strange at all. I know a bunch of people who love the taste of diet coke over regular soda.

I tried it. thought it was pretty good. Not as "vanilla" as vanilla coke, imo.

  9. 08-07-2003 07:02 PM #9
This is the first I'm hearing of it. Apparently Pepsi must know it sucks, to not be advertising it very well.

  10. 08-07-2003 08:33 PM #10
This is the launch week for it in several markets. Next week it should be nationwide.

    Can't wait to try it.

Oh dear god Pepsi, have you ever heard the word "originality"? I suppose they must now copy everyone else because Pepsi Blue was a flop. How is that wannabe 7-up, Sierra Mist doing Pep?

The same thing happened with the lemon flavors, too. I believe Diet Coke with lemon came out before Pepsi Twist did. I guess Pepsi tried to be original because they also added "twist" to the original non-diet Pepsi, Coke did not.

Cola is nasty no matter what...

Unless Coke came out with Captain Morgan Coke... then I might be able to appreciate it.

Just tried it today. It's actually really good!

DIET pepsi vanilla is almost undrinkable, and I literally drink a 6 pack or more of diet pepsi per day.

C'mon. Coke & Pepsi have been stealing ideas from each
other (and other beverage companies) for decades...

I love this subject. here's what I said at another board:

My take: Pepsi's too late to the game on vanilla. What they should have done:

  26. Let Coke have vanilla
  27. Don't waste time & money developing a flavour the competition beat you to
  28. Spend time & money developing Chocolate Pepsi
  29. Whoop Coke's ass at a flavour more people want anyway.
  30. Do happy dance

THAT's what Pepsi should have done. And here's why:

Human's have this strange instinct to stay away from new consumables that they believe taste like consumables that they know they don't like. I'm a huge Coke fanboy. I collect bottles and little cars and mirrors and tins and other flotsam simply because it says 'Coca~Cola' on it. When I can't get Mtn Dew(any colour), I drink Coke or Cherry Coke. I cannot drink Pepsi, it's just nasty, I will not drink Pepsi. I have actually gone thirsty because Pepsi was the only available fluid consumable.

Now take that info and think about it for a sec....

Time's up. Add Vanilla Coke into the mix. I dig Coke, drink it a lot. Yum. Don't like Vanilla Coke, shucks sorry. I heard about a possible Chocolate Coke, and that really appeals to me because, hell, it's chocolate. Everybody likes chocolate!! (well, ok, maybe not everybody, but most prefer it to vanilla anyway) This was exciting news, I would LOVE to be able to run to the store and buy Chocolate Coke and enjoy it at home.

What do the genuises at Pepsi do? Copy-cat Coke(again) and release their version of a Coke flavour that's not selling all that well. It just sounds like bad business to me... Ok back to avoiding consumables:

I know I don't like Pepsi, and I know I don't like Vanilla Coke. Why the hell would I buy Pepsi Vanilla?

And one for the people that(misguided as the must be) like Pepsi? What percentage of those poeple do you think would prefer vanilla over chocolate? See where I'm going with this? Pepsi Vanilla isn't going to draw any new drinkers from Coke's side, even if it is a better vanilla cola than Coke's. It's not going to draw Vanilla Coke fans if they prefer Coke to Pepsi. The only people that are going to dump VC for PV are the people that like both Pepsi & Vanilla enough to prefer it over Coke's version.

Had Pepsi spent the R&D on a chocolate version, the markets would have gone mad for it. Think of all the olders that used to get chocolate sodas at the local soda jerk on Saturday nights. Think of all the kids that have grown up since the 50s & 60s. How many of them would eat a vanilla candy bar? Yeah, like none.

    GIVE US CHOCOLATE COLA!!

Yes, I would try chocolate Pepsi. I like chocolate that much

Yeah, they replaced it with Cherry Pepsi, which is inferior to Cherry Coke to begin with. A-holes!

    From the Atlanta Constitution:

    Coca-Cola Planning Chocolate Drink

The Coca-Cola Co. sees a chocolate drink as, something the company probably
needs to create, Reuters reported, citing a top company executive.

But the executive does not expect a new Coca-Cola advertising tagline soon.

Atlanta-based Coca-Cola thinks that chocolate drinks are an interesting niche
opportunity, Jeffrey Dunn, president and chief operating officer of Coca-Cola
North America, said during his presentation at the Beverage Forum conference
    in New York.

Reuters reported Dunn said that while he does not see it as a huge category
in the future, chocolate is "probably something" that Coca-Cola needs to par-
    ticipate in.

The comments follow a recent report in Beverage Digest, an industry news-
letter, that Coca-Cola plans to launch a new chocolate dairy drink this summer.

Dunn did not say much about plans for the drink, which will be named "Choglit"
according to Beverage Digest, but he did say that Coca-Cola can leverage its
relationship with top food company Nestle to do something in the chocolate arena.

I prefer regular Pepsi over regular Coke
I vastly prefer Vanilla Coke over Pepsi Vanilla
I vastly prefer Wild Cherry Pepsi over Cherry Coke
I would definitely at least TRY a chocolate product by either or both

Did anyone see the Pepsi Vanilla Comercial..... with the Pepsi truck with a system and Hydros....lol Funny...lol

i have tried both vanilla coke and pepsi, and for some strange reason, i love vanilla pepsi!!!

i don't know exactly what it is (i think it's just what's stated on the packaging "smooth vanilla cola") but i am almost enamored with this drink as much as i was code red for such a long time

    three cheers for 'nilla pepsi!

edit: at $.79 for a 20oz. bottle, just try it!
