I looked around and found plenty of slammed MK1s but 90% of them had no suspension or wheel/tire info. I didn't see a thread that was similar to this so, lets do it and make a huge list w/pics and info.

1979 Rabbit
-14" Intra Phonedials
-Falken Azenis RT 615's
-195 60 R14
-Supersport coilovers
-2.75" raised strut front towers
-Front frame rails notched
-Front helper springs removed
-Front fenders cut and dollied out
-Front clipper arches inner lips clearanced
-2.5" (10mm thick) VWJerm rear drop plates
-Rear stub axles shimmed for camber
-Rear arches cut
-Rear clipper arches inner kips clearanced
I just finished the install of the rear drop plates so now the front coilovers still need to be wound down half and inch to get the car to sit level but heres some pics.

excellent idea.

oh yeah, swapping in the mkII springs is a good idea too. ive actually got a set of mkII H&R's laying around somewhere.

just out of curiosity, cna you use stock springs, or would they have to be an aftermarket spring to improve the handling?

Re: (hejso)

the springs you have are progressive rate, meaning the have softer coils that "progressivly" get stiffer. when you head into a corner, those have to compress before it gets to a stiff enough rate to hold the car from rolling over. this creates weird movement and un-predictable response.
using stock mk2 springs (which are linear, meaning same rate through entire length of the spring) will get rid of that and keep that front end solid while cornering. do not use the mk2 lowering springs, you will have the same result as with the springs you already have.

I don't have any good pics of the towers raised as the car is black and it makes it kinda hard to even tell that they are raised but heres a picture of just after they were welded :

Hey... my old Jetta. Hope it's treating you well. The last time I saw it she was lookin' pretty sad. Hindsight is 20/20... if I'd known how the guy I sold it to was going to treat it I never would have sold it. It was a minty fresh 1-owner gem when I bought it.

Ive heard that the car used to be yours. Its seen better days thats for sure. Its been my daily for the last 6 months, and performed flawlessly http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif but its got some nasty rust that im just starting to take care of, and the poor little motor runs great but burns oil like no tomorrow
The worst part right now is that its about as watertight as a screen door... cleaned out my garage the other day so i could finally pull it inside and let it dry out a bit.
