OK! I've been off the road for a few weeks as the rear tyres are getting pretty low. A new set is going to be installed this week.

Registration is due in a couple of weeks which has given me the idea to do a total costs summary for the car.

I've travelled 8362 km - 1500km was to pick the car up from Queensland. Average fuel consumption was 10.8 litres per 100km. That's 21.78 MPG (I think?) Not too bad.

And here's where it gets a bit scary. Over $12k AUD of things I can find receipts for.

Stamp duty (a one time fee as a % of sale price) is a huge part of the figure. I'm going to shop around for insurance this year so year two will be cheaper - assuming nothing major fails.

It's a bit sobering to think I've spent $13k on top of the sale price, but it all adds up pretty damn quickly. I'd hate to do the same analysis of my MK4. 14 years of mods and repairs to a MK4 would be a depressing figure to see!

And the spending continues. . .

I had a roadworthy inspection and had two new 17" tyres installed yesterday. Three hours after I got home I logged onto the local Porsche forum and found a set of 18" LMs for sale.

I'd been searching for these wheels for a *year*. I'd waited as long as I could to get new tyres in case I found a set.

My 3 hour/10km old tyres won't fit. You suck universe!

On the plus side - BBS LM!

Props to you for recognizing what fits. A large community of BBS worshipers would solve this with -20 degrees of camber.

Thanks guys They were picked up by the courier today and I'm expecting them to arrive early next week. I can't wait. I'm thinking of painting them in gold but will run them as is for a while.

I went for a drive up into the hills today. I was having a good time until . . .

Not great, but could be worse.

That is what makes it weird.

Something flew up from a land-cruiser, but I didn't see what happened until it had passed. I was recording the trip with a gopro but the memory card was full when it happened. I'm very lucky that it didn't hit the paint.

Thanks! A couple of "car people" have asked me if it's the wide body model. I'll try and get some photos from above to highlight the hips.

New wheels! A little more dish at the back would be nice, but they sit nicely in the guards.

I'd sit back there wearing Wellingtons just to feel the vibes. I'd take it all in.

Nice 993 BTW. Really likey the color/colour.

      OKAY!

Seriously, awesome car tho. Years ago I rode shotgun in a 993 TT that hit 196 mph in the NJ Pine Barrens in the middle of the night. The driver was the most out-there person I've ever known, out of some seriously-out-there people I've known. That car was a similar color purple and it changed my perspective on cars and speed.

196MPH is insane. I'd have been terrified. I bet it's a good memory though.

      Finally, some videos.

Here's a clip of the exhaust.

A video of the spoiler rising.

And me running over my GoPro.

It's getting a new windscreen tomorrow. Everyone online says that it's a tricky job so I'm hoping it goes smoothly.

I'll tell them not to proceed if they find any. The records show that the previous owner repair some rust in the frame around the back screen. Hopefully they don't cause any damage that will let the rust start to form.

Wow, I had no idea that this stuff existed. Wouldn't the windscreen wipers (and dust/bugs) eventually scratch it? Great idea if not.

Cheers! It's a gopro session 4. It works pretty well if you can get the microphone out of the wind. Dynamic range on the video is pretty ordinary though.
