      Our IS350 didn't feel 5.5 seconds slow, but I can't really explain why it can't put out at least 5 seconds with that much power. I guess the powerband really isn't favourable. Then again the target market could not care less. I would happily swap out a second of 0-60 for the option of a naturally aspirated engine that is tried and true and will not be a red flag in 10-15 years time.

      The only thing they need to do is integrate the infotainment screen a bit better but other than that I'd say it's perfect. The LCD ALL THE THINGS is what's going to look dated in 5 years. Look at infotainment setups from 5 years ago and it'll look like that and gradually get worse in looks and performance.

      Lexus is near timeless design, and is what automakers should strive towards.

      Been a fan of the IS interior since the swoosh light redesign.

      Totally agree, it looks purposely laid out without being overly flashy or tech stuffed. Adding CP (finally) along with a nicely sized infotainment screen feels like bringing the cockpit closer to perfection.

      On the surface I want to hate Toyota/Lexus for being lazy but I don't hate. I like this better than the TLX.

      My car is about that fast. I have decided that anything with a triple digit quarter mile trap speed is fast enough for the street. I wasn't totally depressed with the TLX' power after driving my FIL's new Mustang GT. I drove an F30 328i which is about as fast and I felt the same about that.

      Yeah, nothing says timeless like an analog clock in the middle of the dash of your compact sport sedan targeted to a younger audience.

      The screen is fine, and I think what people talk about as "better integrated" is actually worse since that just means a bunch of unecessary shapes and bulk on the top of the dash. LCD screens aren't going to look dated in 5 years. Sorry man.

      yeah i've driven the current A4 and my mom's TLX V6 and while on paper they seem similar its all about the power delivery. 5-60 the TLX has no lag so is def faster in normal situations and continues pulling up top whereas the A4 just flattens out at about 5k. The truly pathetic thing is that the A4 is the base model and the next TLX 2.0t will now offer the same performance at their base level as well, whereas for lexus this is their mid IS model.

      New 2021 Lexus IS will premiere on June 9

      Similar to the last generation, I like the idea of a nice handling, Japanese RWD sedan with a real 6 cylinder NA motor. I like the interior, though it looks very similar to the previous generation but that's not a bad thing. I really like the proportions of the IS also, but I just can't get behind that predator face and the front bumper that looks like it would scrape on EVERY****INGTHING. I scrape enough with a stock height E91, this thing looks like it would bring the annoyance to a whole new level.

      I think it looks great.

      Anyone else seeing a lot of Camry design in the side profile? The upswept body line now being in front of the rear wheel, the flattened out body line from the rear door to the trunk, and the entire tail light look (from the side at least) is 100% camry.

      Not a bad thing IMO...

      I think the low gears on that 10AT are really aggressive as well which might damn near cancel out the lag. But yea 5-60 times are what matters in real life and where a lot of turbo launch control cars get exposed.

      I like this thing's looks but Toyota needs to stop dragging its feet with turbo charging. They need to pretty much match what the TLX is bringing at the minimum if they want enthusiasts to buy this. I'd def get an AWD TLX 2.0T over this.

      Hmm. So it's on the same wheelbase, which I assume means the same lack of back seat legroom? It's slightly wider and taller, but that won't help. That's a bummer, as that was the main turnoff for buying a CPO IS350 recently. They seem to have fixed some of the awkward styling of the pre-refresh/last generation/whatever it is though, which is nice.

      It is surprising that they haven't really improved the power output of that 3.5. It made 306hp in 2006, and now it's "only" 311. Still, it's nice that an n/a option is available.

      Yes it reminds me of the Camry. But the Lexus has much better proportions.

      hopefully with 10AT gen 2 they fix the issues they had with the RDX. It again could be acura protecting the shawd, so we won't know until the journalists gets their hands on it.

      The Lexus in that test also managed to get the exact same skipad numbers (.83g) as the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Very impressive sports sedan.

      So what's the point of the IS then? Dump it, there's no sense in a RWD platform vehicle if the people that actually buy them don't care and would be perfectly fine with an ES, right?
