Oh FFS, give it up already. I've never seen an idiot triggered by a single car as much as you seem to be about the Golf R.

Saying there is no real world performance differency between a Golf R and a Jetta GLI is beyond idiotic. FWD will struggle to put down power in anything other than perfect conditions with summer tires, the Golf R just grips and goes. I've got seat times in MK7 GTI's, and the MK7 R is next level performance, especially in the traction limited real world.

The GTI/GLI are awesome cars, and for a lot of people the spread to the R just isn't worth it and that's fine. For those where the spread is worth it they are getting their money's worth IMO.

Numbers don't lie but I guess if you are launching the R every stop light, it is worth the 20K USD premium.

It bums me out that someone is this simple minded and desperate for attention.

those numbers can vary significantly based on so many factors.... such as what tires, the conditions, the type of asphalt, incline/declines.... I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've never driven either of these cars.

Yeah, between years, LL is good for the difference between a Grand Sport and a WRX...but not so much in this case. Humidity, temperature, cloud cover, cycles on the tires, drivers, who was on the track last, etc. etc. are all variables. I'll estimate LL times are +/- 2 seconds if you're comparing between years. I'd take the Jetta or GTI over the R 10 times out of 10 (well actually, IRL I have 4 times out of 4, and when Mk8 is here it will probably be 5 out of 5), but not one of those times did I think I was getting the faster car.

So you bought a car based on lap times for a track you will never drive on?

Weird that you bump the thread with more bench racing stats, but then hide behind actual driving experience you have yet to elaborate on when called on your BS.

And I have test driven several MK7 GTIs, which by the transitive property of MQB bench racing makes me a subject matter expert on the GLI and R.
