So I trst drove an RS5 Coupe today and I have to say it's too tame and sophisticated for my taste. RS3 is a better experience and drives way better IMHO.

Hawk, drive then back to back but IMHO this isn't worth $100k

Stretch for the RS6. It will hold its value much better.

Sell it on BAT in 5 years for 60% of MSRP.

Sonoma or Navarra and the Bronze is the way you should go Hawk.

Have you bothered testing the X3M/X4M in both standard and comp form yet?

Interesting. Yeah I haven't driven them back-to-back but I did take out an RS3 when it first arrived and then the RS5 last year. My impressions of the RS3 was that it felt like a really, really quick Golf R with a cooler sounding engine. I actually thought at the time it was a bit too small an unrefined feeling to wear the RS badge. But those are personal opinions obviously. I'm not questioning that it's a great car. At any rate, the RS 3 is a moot point because it's just too small for a growing family of 4. I actually can't stand the lack of headroom in that the A3/S3/RS3 platform. My head brushed the headliner constantly with the seat all the way down and I'm only 5'11''

I remember the RS 5 felt a lot like a Porsche too be honest. The suspension felt tuned in a similar way to my 991. I said to the salesperson. Huh, this feels like a Panamera in a lot of ways. So I can totally get why some people might find it too big or sophisticated.

I guess I should really take out an M550i and see what that feels like in comparison to the RS 5. Same snack bracket I think?

Aw man, I'm not feeling that bronze at all. You like it?

The X3M/X4M are SUVs. I just do not enjoy the tall seating position with a big heavy vehicle. I've tried so many SUVs hoping I'd like them and I just walk away every time shaking my head going, "NOPE!"

Hawc can you please take your new car purchase fantasies to another new Hawc thread and leave this one to discuss the ugliest ****ing front fascia design since the Edsel.

Haha, no way. This is a hawc thread through and through, and that's the way they go. You should know that by now. Why, in another few pages, we'll probably be talking about the Mk8 Golf. The new M3/M4 is old news now.

I wonder if the S5 might be enough?

      It's still 0-60 4.8 sec and it's about $30,000CDN less than the RS 5.

Enough for what? Even a regular A4 quattro is more than fast enough to get to the grocery store. I feel like you don't know what you want and are trying to buy whatever will impress TCL the most.

I bought my M2 with gold wheels, the bronze is right up my alley.

I think you'd be surprised, they hide their weight very well and don't weigh too much more than the new M3/M4. But nothing you can do about the seating position if you don't like being higher up though. At least you'd be able to try out the new M3/M4's drivetrain without waiting for the AWD variants next summer.

S4 is the sweet spot price wise Hawc.

      Here's my breakdown:

If you don't need the space: RS3
If you need more space than an RS3: S4
If you need to be more trendy than an S4: S5 Sportback
If you want the big dog unicorn: RS6
If you're not man enough to drive a wagon: RS7
If you want to show everyone you're nouveau riche but can't stretch to a Urus: RS8
If you can't handle the ugly of the new M3 and are willing to give up the driving dynamics: RS5 Sportback

      Did I miss anything?

The A5/S5 SB is one of the few beautiful cars Audi still makes. I'd get one of those just for that alone

      Nah, that's pretty good.

And just as the X3M is the SUV M3, here's basically the new Golf R in Tiguan form (brand new video). Same engine and what will be a lot of the same interior bits.

Hasn't Hawk already test driven all of these Audi variants like 3 times each? I'm confused as to why there is still a question, you either liked it or you didn't.

Also, X3M is worth the test drive if CAD price is in your budget and it fits on your parking paddock. Lifted seating position aside, it's impressive.

That's a fair point, but since you like to jump ship fast .. the S4/S5/RS5 will tie you down for longer, and I have 3 kids man ... who the f*** cares about rear headroom space? I'm 5'10 and at the lowest seat setting have 6" of headrom ...

S5 is even more gutless IMO. It has the space, but the performance is lacking.

I'd probably point him to the M3 when it comes out, he's trying to make Audi work ... but it's all mediocre and none of them check all his boxes. I mean a CPO Panamera would do the trick, no? Hawc

It would be great if it did, but show me a current Panamera (not the last generation) CPO that can 0-60 under 5 seconds for under $100K?

Really??? I dunno, I don't think of 0-60 sec in 4.8 seconds as gutless. All the reviewers say it's the sweet spot in the A5 line up and way better value than the RS5. It even looks like the old RS5!

Are we sure a Panamera would fit in his roofless garage? I mean, it's about 25" longer than a Golf R.

I love it when people driving these cars expect any different. Of course it is going to be sophisticated and more detached from the road than an RS3.

This ^^. But probably won't fit in Hawk's non-garage driveway space.
